CRAWL CHALLENGES

Word Wars: in which two people write for a specific amount of time (i.e. 15 minutes), and whoever writes the most wins the challenge. 

Word Sprints: in which two people compete to see who can write a certain amount of words (i.e. 200 words) the fastest. 

Write x words in y minutes: this is a difficult challenge that many find difficult to understand. The aim of this writing challenge is to write a specific amount of words within a certain amount of time. If the challenge is to write 250 words in five minutes, you write 250 words regardless of whether or not it takes you longer than five minutes to reach 250. Oftentimes, these rounds will include additional information about what to do whether or not you complete the specific word count within the allotted time. 

Fifty Headed Hydra: A popular NaNo writing game in which participants attempt to write 500 words in five minutes. The aim is to not worry about the quality of writing and to simply get the words onto the page. Don’t worry about reaching 500 words; just write for five minutes and as quickly as you can. 

Three Digit Challenge: in which participants take the last three digits of someone else’s word count and write that many words (i.e. the word count is 18,394; you would write 394 words). If you feel so inclined, leave the last three digits of your own word count. 

3% Challenge: in which participants multiply their own word counts by 3% (or 0.03) and write that many words (i.e. if your word count is 6,000, you would write 180 words. 6000 x 0.03 = 180). 

CRAWL RULES

First-year students are required to specify their blood status, depending on their writing speed: Muggleborn, for slower writers; Halfblood, for those at an average pace; and Pureblood, for those with exceptional writing speed. 

Galleons are used to skip a round of the crawl that is particularly daunting. Students are reminded that only three Galleons may be spent per year and that it may be wise to spend your money wisely… 

Be aware that rounds of the crawl get more intense and long as you move through your years at Hogwarts. This is because as you write more, you will be able to handle longer and more rigorous challenges. 

Students may also bring, if they desire, an owl OR a cat OR a toad.

You receive your Hogwarts letter by owl and are completely ecstatic to head out for your first year at Hogwarts.

Sprint to 100 words to let out your excitement and energy.

You arrive in Diagon Alley and your first stop is Gringotts, wizard bank.
Write for ten minutes. The amount of words you write will determine how many Galleons are in your vault.

Muggleborns
Less than 100 words: 1 Galleon
100-200 words: 2 Galleons
More than 200 words: 3 Galleons

Halfbloods
Less than 150 words: 1 Galleon
150-250 words: 2 Galleons
More than 250 words: 3 Galleons

Purebloods
Less than 250 words: 1 Galleon
250-350 words: 2 Galleons
More than 350 words: 3 Galleons



You step into Ollivander’s wand shop.
Roll a die and multiply your roll by 100. Sprint to that many words.

Finally, you’re done shopping! But before you leave, you decide that you want to purchase a pet.
Write for 15 minutes as you search for the perfect animal for you. Pick one: owl, cat, or toad.



After months of waiting, you’ve arrived on platform 9 ¾ and boarded the Hogwarts Express!
Write to the nearest thousand as you settle into your seat and get ready for a long ride.
If you need to write more than 500 words for this challenge and choose not to skip this round, take one Galleon.

Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans: Participate in a Fifty Headed Hydra as you frantically try to get the taste of vomit out of your mouth.
Chocolate Frog: Write for five minutes as you chase down the frog.
Licorice Wand: Sprint to 150 words.
Pumpkin Pasties: Roll a die and multiply by 50. Write that many words.



You arrive at the castle and wait in the hall with the rest of the first years. You notice a boy with messy black hair and glasses talking with a redheaded boy, a girl with bushy hair whispering to the people around her, and a boy with pale… well, everything.
Write for ten minutes as you attempt to socialize with the people around you.



Professor McGonagall escorts you and your peers into the Great Hall for the Sorting. After the Sorting Hat sings its song and several students walk up timidly, your name is called, and you sit yourself down on the stool, timid and worried about what is about to happen. McGonagall places the hat on your head, and you are sorted into your House. Pick from the four Houses- Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

Gryffindor: Are you brave enough to write ten times your typing speed in 10 minutes?
Hufflepuff: Remain loyal to your word count and write steadily for 45 minutes with no breaks.
Ravenclaw: Calculate how many words it will take for you to write to the nearest 1000.
Slytherin: You’re an ambitious one, aren’t you? Write 750 words in 30 minutes!



The feast is delicious!
Do the Three Digit Challenge as you eat at your House table and talk with those around you, as well as your House ghost.
If you are in Hufflepuff, you know your chambers are near the kitchen so you save room for later and may skip this round for free.



You’ve settled into your dormitory quite quickly and nicely, and your first couple weeks of class go well.
Write for an hour as you grow accustomed to your new classes and all of the magic you’re learning.

Muggleborns: If you write 750 words within the hour, take 2 Galleons.
Halfbloods: If you write 1,000 words within the hour, take 2 Galleons.
Purebloods: If you write 1,250 words within the hour, take 2 Galleons.



On your way to Potions, the messy haired boy who you now know is Harry Potter stops and asks you if you know where Professor Binns’ classroom is.
Write 200 words in 10 minutes as you try to remember where his classroom is.

If you succeed: Harry hurries to Binns’ classroom and gives you a Galleon as a thank you for your help.
If you fail: You spend so much time trying to help Harry that you are both late to your next class. Write another 200 words as you apologize to Snape and try not to lose any points for your House.
If you are in Slytherin, Snape likes you and lets you skip this round for free.



You get locked out of your common room and Mrs. Norris finds you! You run with Harry, Ron, and Hermione to the third door corridor, and you find a giant three-headed dog!
After making it back to your dormitory safely, roll a die, multiply your roll by 100, and write that many words as you try to calm down.



Troll! In the dungeon! You go with Harry and Ron to find Hermione and end up fighting the troll with them.
Sprint to 250 words, and try not to get yourself killed.
If you are in Gryffindor, you fight the troll bravely and may skip this round for free.



You go down to Hagrid’s hut to have tea with him. When you try his treacle fudge, your teeth get stuck together!
Write for fifteen minutes as Hagrid tries to help and Madam Pomfrey magically loosens the cement-like effect the fudge had on your mouth.



Months pass, and it’s Christmas morning! You receive 3 Galleons from your parents, as well as a challenge from the Weasley twins.
Write 1000 words in under an hour.

If you succeed: they give you a Galleon.
If you fail: they hit you with snowballs until you’re buried under heavy amounts of snow and make you write 250 more words.



During the Gryffindor vs Slytherin Quidditch game, you get incredibly excited.
Roll a die. If even, you’re cheering for Gryffindor; if odd, you’re cheering for Slytherin.
Word war for fifteen minutes with someone cheering for the opposite team.
If you beat them, you win your bet, and you take 2 of their Galleons. But be careful- if you lose, you give them 2 of your Galleons. A bet’s a bet.



Harry tells you that he suspects that Snape is going after the Philosopher’s Stone and you decide to go with the trio to try to get to the Stone before Snape does. But before you can even go down the trapdoor, you need to make it past Fluffy.
Write for ten minutes as you lull him to sleep sneak through the door.
If you are in Ravenclaw, you know exactly how to keep Fluffy asleep and may skip this round for free.



Oh no- you and your friends are trapped in a patch of Devil’s Snare!
Hermione tells you that you need to write 300 words in five minutes in order to safely escape.

If you succeed: You make it out of the deadly plant without a scratch and even spot a Galleon on the ground. What luck!
If you fail: Hermione has to set the plant on fire to get you out alive. She thinks very poorly of your skills now, so write another 300 words to impress her.



Harry catches a flying key and opens a large wooden door. Inside the next room is a giant wizard chess set. You and your friends need to replace some of the pieces and play the game. Ron takes the place of a knight, Harry becomes a bishop, and Hermione takes over for a rook.
Pick a chess piece and complete the challenge below!
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.

Pawn: You know you won’t be of much use to the game and think it would be wisest to be taken out early. Complete a Fifty Headed Hydra and take a fifteen minute writing break to recover from your injuries.
Rook: You take the place of the other rook and spend the game running across the board, strategically taking out important pieces of the other side’s team. Sprint to 200 and take a five minute writing break once the game is won.
Bishop: You take the place of the other bishop and sneakily take out pawns on the other team. Write for 20 minutes and take a five minute writing break once the game is won.
Knight: You take the place of the other knight and become the wild card of the match. Write 300 words in 15 minutes until you’re taken out by one of the other team’s rooks. Take a fifteen minute writing break to recover from your injuries.



Harry and Hermione move ahead into the next room when you stay with Ron.
When Hermione comes back, sprint to 500 words as you run to find Dumbledore and explain the situation to him.



The word gets out that Professor Quirrell is the one who wanted the stone, not Snape! Rumors also spread of your bravery in helping Harry, Ron, and Hermione as you four went through the challenges the professors set to protect the stone. Dumbledore awards you fifty points for your courage.
Write for five minutes as your peers congratulate and admire you.



Summer vacation is here!
Take an hour long writing break- you deserve it!

You’ve been spending your summer with the Weasleys, and when you and Ron find out that Harry’s in trouble, you go with him, Fred, and George to rescue him in the flying car.

Write for ten minutes as you fly home to the Burrow.

Molly has some work for you to do to help around the house. For every challenge below that you complete, she gives you one Galleon.


De-gnome the garden: Word war for fifteen minutes with a friend. The loser has to write an additional 100 words!

Fix the clock: Write 250 words.

Help Molly cook dinner: Write for twenty minutes.





Errol arrives with everyone’s book lists, and Gilderoy Lockhart’s name is written all over it.
Write 3% of your current word count, as you worry that it’ll take 3% of everything you own to buy his books along with everything else you’re going to need.





Floo powder power! Floo powder power!
Write 500 words in fifteen minutes as you travel to Diagon Alley.
If you are in Ravenclaw, you know exactly how to use Floo powder and may skip this round for free.


If you succeed: You spot a Galleon on the ground outside of the fireplace! What luck!

If you fail: You end up in Knockturn Alley with Harry. Write an additional 200 words as you find your way back to the Weasleys.





Your first stop is Gringotts to pick up some additional money for your schoolbooks.
Write for ten minutes.
The amount of words you write will determine how many Galleons you take out of your vault.


Muggleborns

150-250 words: 2 Galleons

More than 250 words: 3 Galleons


Halfbloods

You spend so much money in the book shop buying your books.
Write 500 words as you try to balance your new books along with everything else.





On September 1st, you go with Harry and the Weasleys to Kings Cross Station, but you get stuck outside of Platform 9 ¾! You, Harry, and Ron decide to find another way to get to school this year…
Word war with a friend for an hour during the long drive- er, flight in the Ford Anglia.
The winner gets to take a Galleon from the other.





Upon your arrival at Hogwarts, you crash into a strange tree that starts to attack you!
Write 300 words as you escape from the tree and take the walk of shame into the school.





It’s a miracle that you’ve arrived back at school safely, and that you weren’t expelled. Instead, your Head of House decides that you will be serving your detention with them. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.


Gryffindors: Write for 30 minutes as you search Professor McGonagall’s classroom frantically for the needles that Peeves decided to hide from the first years.

Hufflepuffs: Write 400 words in fifteen minutes as you help Professor Sprout transport some Mandrakes into Greenhouse Three. If you fail, your earmuffs become loose and you faint from their shrieks. Write an additional 150 words.

Ravenclaws: Write 500 words as you gather feathers for Professor Flitwick to use with his students.

Slytherins: Do the Three Digit Challenge as you collect ingredients around Hagrid’s hut for Snape’s newest potions.





Gilderoy Lockhart turns out to be a babbling idiot and tells you to roll a die, multiply your roll by 100, and write that many words in order to catch all of the Cornish pixies he let loose in his classroom.
Naturally, it doesn’t work, but Hermione takes care of them for you. Immobulus!





Ron is puking slugs after standing up for Hermione!
Take him to Hagrid’s hut and write for five minutes as you help him to feel better.
If you are in Hufflepuff, you would help Ron no matter what and may skip this round for free.





You’re invited to Nearly Headless Nick’s deathday party on Halloween night. But the question is, will you go to the party or to the feast?


If you go to the feast: Complete a Fifty Headed Hydra as you stuff your face with delicious food. You do feel bad about not going to the party, though…

If you go to the party: Write for twenty minutes as you stand around the party, bored out of your mind and wishing you were eating food at the feast. When no one is around to notice, Harry slips a Galleon into your hand and thanks you for coming with him.





On your way back to the dormitory, you discover Mrs. Norris hanging from a torch racket, somehow Petrified… and somehow Filch seems to think that you did it!
Write to the nearest thousand as you try to explain to Dumbledore and Filch that you couldn’t have done it because you’re not the Heir of Slytherin.





You and your friends decide to join the Dueling Club, and you’re excited to show off your skills!
Word war for fifteen minutes with a friend.
The winner of the duel gets bragging rights; the loser has to write an additional 100 words.





Merry Christmas! Your plans for the day: sneak into the Slytherin common room using Polyjuice potion to interrogate Malfoy and ask if he’s the Heir of Slytherin.
Write 400 words as you impersonate a Slytherin student by taking the potion.
If you are in Slytherin, you already have access to the Slytherin common room and may skip this round for free.





Harry approaches you, Ron, and Hermione and tells you that Hagrid very possibly could have opened the Chamber of Secrets when he attended Hogwarts.
You’re not sure if you believe him, so write for fifteen minutes as Harry explains his logic to you.





As you’re sitting in the stands waiting for the Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff Quidditch match to start, Professor McGonagall announces that the match is canceled and that you need to head to your common room immediately.
Roll a die, multiply your roll by 100, and write that many words.





The news gets out that Hermione and a Ravenclaw prefect were Petrified, and you, Harry, and Ron decide that it’s time to talk to Hagrid about what happened in the Chamber of Secrets. You have to hide underneath the invisibility cloak when the Minister of Magic arrives and takes Hagrid away.
Write for five minutes after he leaves while you wait to see if the coast is clear to head back to the castle.





During your Herbology class, you spot a trail of spiders heading out the door.
That night, write 3% of your current word count as you follow the trail and nearly get eaten by Hagrid’s giant spider, Aragog.
If you are in Gryffindor, you aren’t fazed by the terrifying spider and may skip this round for free.





There’s been another message left by the Heir of Slytherin, and this time, Ginny’s been kidnapped. You go with Harry, Ron and Lockhart into the girl’s bathroom, where you discover the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
Write 300 words as you go down into the chamber.





It’s lucky that Ron broke his wand at the beginning of the year- when Lockhart tries to perform a Memory Charm on you, it backfires on him! He’s the one who loses his memory, plus it causes a part of the ceiling to cave in, separating you and Harry from Ron and Lockhart.
Write for twenty minutes as you try to get past the rubble.





It’s no use- you have to go with Harry further into the chamber.
Participate in a Fifty-Headed Hydra as you search for the monster.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.


If you write 500 words: You spot Ginny lying on the floor and run to her side. Complete the next two rounds.

If you do not write 500 words: You hear something moving behind you and turn around, spotting the reflection of a giant basilisk in the water on the floor. You are Petrified! Skip the next two rounds and take a thirty minute writing break as time passes and you wait to be revived.





You spot a young man around sixteen who Harry seems to recognize. His name is Tom Riddle, and he reveals that he’s nothing more than a memory of Lord Voldemort’s younger self. When you declare your loyalty to Dumbledore, Tom sets the basilisk on you!
Write for 45 minutes as you try to defend yourself and avoid the basilisk’s gaze.





Fawkes flies down into the chamber with the Sorting Hat, and when Harry puts it on, a sword falls out of it, which he uses to kill the basilisk. You take one of the basilisk’s fangs and stab the diary.
Write 100 words as the memory of Tom Riddle disappears.





After you get out of the hospital wing from your injuries, the year quickly ends and summer vacation is here.
Write for fifteen minutes at the end of year feast before boarding the Hogwarts Express home for the summer.

Summer vacation has been great, but it’s time to go to Diagon Alley to pick up your school books!

Write for ten minutes as you travel to the shops and pick up all of your supplies. 

You run into Harry, Ron, and Hermione, who ask you to tag along with them to the Magical Menagerie so Hermione can buy herself a pet. Much to Ron’s dismay, she picks out a large orange cat named Crookshanks.
Write 300 words when the cat jumps on your head as it pursues Scabbers.





You spend your last night of summer vacation in the Leaky Cauldron with the Weasleys.
Word war for fifteen minutes with a friend as you and Ron play wizard chess.
The winner receives 2 Galleons from the other!





On the Hogwarts Express, you share a compartment with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a sleeping man Hermione identifies as Professor Lupin. Harry tells you all about Sirius Black and that he escaped Azkaban just so he could kill Harry.
Write 150 words as your face pales and you worry about what might happen in the upcoming year.





The train stops and the lights go out as you feel a chill and a feeling of sadness come over you. A hooded figure enters the compartment as Professor Lupin wakes up and forces it away with a charm.
He gives each of you a chocolate frog to help you feel better after the ordeal is over, but you can’t eat yours until you participate in a Fifty-Headed Hydra.
If you are in Ravenclaw, you recognize the hooded figure as a Dementor and may skip this round for free.





Your first class of the term is Divination, where Professor Trelawny begins class by having you read tea leaves.
Roll a die, multiply your roll by 150, and write that many words as you stare at the bottom of your friend’s cup, trying to understand what it means.





Another new class you have this year is Care of Magical Teachers with Hagrid. He shows you a beautiful creature called a hippogriff, and as you get closer to it, he decides that he likes you enough to let you ride him. He lifts you up onto its back and the hippogriff takes off, flying all over the school grounds.
Write to the nearest thousand as you hang on for dear life and enjoy the magnificent scenery.
If you are in Hufflepuff, the hippogriff takes a liking to you and you may skip this round for free.





Professor Lupin proves to be the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher you’ve ever had. He takes you to the staff room, where a boggart in the wardrobe will turn into whatever you fear the most.
Write 300 words in ten minutes as you face your fears and cast Riddikulus to turn it into something funny instead.


If you succeed: Professor Lupin is very impressed with you, and you win a bet with Ron that you wouldn’t be able to do it. He gives you a Galleon.

If you fail: Professor Lupin insists that you try again. Write for another five minutes as you perfect the spell, this time perfectly executing it on the Boggart.





Halloween arrives, and you’re able to go to Hogsmeade with Ron and Hermione.
Write 3% of your current word count as you load up on tricks from Zonko’s and treats from Honeydukes.





The Halloween feast is delicious, and as you return to your dormitory, you hear the news that the Fat Lady was attacked by Sirius Black. Your Head of House escorts you to the Great Hall, where it appears that the entire school is having a sleepover. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.


Gryffindors: Write 350 words as you have to repeat yourself, explaining what happened.

Hufflepuffs: You get hungry in the middle of the night. Write for twenty minutes as you sneak off to the kitchen and grab some food.

Ravenclaws: No one is going to stop you from studying for your Transfiguration exam tomorrow, not even Sirius Black. Write for thirty minutes as you try to study over the noise of the students around you.

Slytherins: You decide that you want to find Sirius Black yourself. You sneak out of the Great Hall and try to find him, but Snape catches you. Write 500 words as he lectures you on your way back to bed.





At the Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff Quidditch match, you can’t see the Dementors on the field but you can feel their presence.
Write for fifteen minutes as the game ends abruptly and you hurry off of the field trying to get away from the Azkaban guards.





On another trip to Hogsmeade, Harry sneaks out of the castle to join you, Ron, and Hermione. You go to get a drink at the Three Broomsticks when you overhear McGonagall, Flitwick, Hagrid, and Cornelius Fudge talking about Sirius Black’s relationship with the Potters.
Write 200 words as you sit in your seat, terrified that they’ll find you eavesdropping on them.
If you are in Slytherin, you are an excellent eavesdropper and may skip this round for free.





Christmas morning arrives, and you spend the day with Harry, Ron, and Hermione playing Exploding Snaps. Your present from your parents arrives, and it’s very intricately wrapped.
Write for fifteen minutes as you try to get it open.
Your gift depends on how much you write.

Sirius Black breaks into Hogwarts again, this time attempting to attack Ron in his bed after finding a list of passwords to Gryffindor Tower.
Roll a die, multiply your roll by 100, and write that many words as you spend another sleepless night in your common room.





The Quidditch final arrives: Gryffindor vs Slytherin.
Roll a die; if your roll is even, you’re cheering for Gryffindor, and if your roll is odd, you’re cheering for Slytherin.
Word war for twenty minutes with someone cheering for the opposite team- the winner gets to take one of the other’s Galleons!





Your Easter holidays are spent doing homework and nothing else.
Write 400 words as you spend several all-nighters studying for your exams.





On the last day of exams, you and your friends decide to go visit Hagrid to give him some support before Buckbeak is executed.
Participate in a Fifty-Headed Hydra as you’re forced out of Hagrid’s hut and watch the execution.
If you are in Gryffindor, the idea of death doesn’t scare you and you may skip this round for free.





You and your friends spot Scabbers on your way back to the castle, and Ron is dragged under the Whomping Willow by a large black dog!
Write 300 words as you, Harry, and Hermione struggle to get underneath the tree.





You follow the passage underneath the Whomping Willow and end up inside the Shrieking Shack. There, you’re met by Sirius Black and Professor Lupin.
Write for ten minutes as they explain that Sirius was innocent, and that Peter Pettigrew was the one who betrayed Harry’s parents and killed all those people.





Peter Pettigrew turns out to be an animagus, and Ron’s pet rat.
Write 350 words as Lupin forces Pettigrew to turn back into his human self.





On your way back to the castle, Lupin begins to transform into a werewolf!
Write 400 words in fifteen minutes as you flee to the castle.


If you succeed: You make it to the castle and start to tell Cornelius Fudge and Snape what happened, but they insist that you’ve been Confounded and need to visit the hospital wing.

If you fail: You get caught up by Lupin and have to flee him as well as the Dementors who show up for Sirius. Write an additional 200 words.





You, Harry, and Hermione are the only ones conscious enough to stand up for Sirius to Dumbledore, and while he believes you, he instructs Hermione to use her Time-Turner to save Sirius.
Turn back time and complete three of the previous five challenges again!
Beginning at the Fifty-Headed Hydra and ending at 400 words in fifteen minutes.) Keep in mind that you may not skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.





You and your friends manage to save both Sirius and Buckbeak by using the Time-Turner. There is no celebration of your bravery this year at the end of year feast, but you still enjoy yourself nonetheless.
Write for ten minutes as you say your last goodbyes to your friends- until next year!

Earlier this summer, Ron invited you to come to the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasleys, Harry, and Hermione. Today is finally the day! You and your friends meet up with the Diggory family to use a nearby Portkey.
Write 400 words as you travel by Portkey and get dizzy upon landing. 

After setting up camp for the night, you meet Ludo Bagman, a former Beater and the commentator for the match.
Fred and George make a bet with him, and you do as well when Ludo challenges you to write 750 words in thirty minutes.


If you succeed: Ludo doubles the amount of Galleons you have.

If you fail: Sorry, but Ludo takes half of your Galleons.





Time for the match- Ireland vs Bulgaria!
Roll a die; if your roll is even, you’re cheering for Ireland; if your roll is odd, you’re cheering for Bulgaria.
Word war with someone cheering for the opposite team for fifteen minutes.


If you win: Your friend gives you a Galleon.

If you lose: You give your friend a Galleon.





The Dark Mark appears over the large campsite after the game.
Write 3% of your current word count as you flee the camp and into the woods.





Aboard the Hogwarts Express, Draco Malfoy gloats that he knows about an event happening at Hogwarts this year that no one else knows about.
You and your friends decide to ignore him, and you write 500 words as you eat some treats off of the trolley and get excited about your classes for the term.

At the start of term feast, Dumbledore announces that this year, Hogwarts will be hosting the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and that no one under the age of seventeen will be allowed to submit their names to be considered for the competition.
Write for twenty minutes as you scheme with the Weasley twins about how you’ll get your name into the Goblet of Fire.





This year’s new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is Mad-Eye Moody, a retired Auror for the Ministry.
He demonstrates the three Unforgivable Curses in front of the class, using the Imperius Curse on you to make you write 600 words.





The day before Halloween, the delegates from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang arrive at Hogwarts.
Write for ten minutes as you notice Viktor Krum among the Durmstrang students and eat at the Welcoming Feast.





Fred and George give you some of their Aging Potion, allowing all three of you across the Age Line protecting the Goblet of Fire from younger students. Unfortunately, the potion doesn’t work, and all three of you are sent to the hospital wing.
Write to the nearest thousand as you wait for your gray hair to turn back to normal.
If you are in Ravenclaw, you know better than to use an Aging Potion to get past the Age Line and may skip this round for free.





On Halloween night, four champions are selected for the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and one of them is Harry! He asks you for your help to prepare him for the First Task.
Write 300 words as you practice the Summoning Charm with him and Hermione.





The First Task is here, and Harry faces off with a Hungarian Horntail!
Participate in a Fifty-Headed Hydra as you watch the event with bated breath, and celebrate in his success completing the Summoning Charm.





Hermione is worried about the well being of the house elves in the kitchens, and she takes you, Harry, and Ron down to the kitchens.
Write for fifteen minutes as you talk to Dobby and Winky while the rest of the house elves feed you well.
If you are in Hufflepuff, you’re already in the kitchens when Hermione and the others arrive and may skip this round for free.





Your Head of House announces that there will be a Yule Ball on December 25th, and that you need to find a date for the evening. You have two ideas for who to ask, but you’re unsure of who to pick: a quirky third-year Ravenclaw named Luna Lovegood, or your good friend Seamus Finnigan.


If you ask Luna: She seems excited about the fact that she’ll be able to attend the ball, though you are a little put off by her strange personality. Write 500 words as you make plans with her for when to pick her up.

If you ask Seamus: He’s a little surprised that you asked him but gladly accepts. Write for twenty minutes as you pray that he won’t blow anything up in your face on your date.





Christmas Day arrives, and it’s time for the Ball! After the formal slow dances, you and your date have fun dancing to the band that arrives to play.
Write for thirty minutes while listening to your favorite wizard rock music.

In preparation for the Second Task, you help Harry in the library to try to find a way to breathe underwater.
Write 400 words as you learn little from your search.





The morning of the Second Task, you can’t find Ron or Hermione to walk down with you to the lake, so you go alone and quickly realize that they’re a part of the event.
Write for twenty minutes as you wait for your friends to come up to the surface of the lake.
If you are in Gryffindor, you use the time to console Neville, who thinks he killed Harry by giving him gillyweed. You may skip this round for free.





Sirius, who’s still on the run, wants to meet Harry and the rest of you outside of Hogsmeade.
Write 500 words as you sneak away from the town and to the cave where you meet him.





Your life becomes fairly uneventful as you wait for the Third Task to approach. For every class you study for, complete the challenge below. If you complete all of them, take a Galleon for your valiant efforts.


Transfiguration: Write 200 words as you practice turning a guinea fowl into a guinea pig.

Potions: Write for thirty minutes as you perfect your Wit-Sharpening Potion.

Divination: Write 150 words as you study out of The Dream Oracle

Charms: Write 300 words as you learn how to perform the Banishing Charm.

Defense Against the Dark Arts: Write for twenty minutes as you work on your counter-curses.





The Third Task is finally here, after you watched with much curiosity as the labyrinth grew on the Quidditch field.
Write for 45 minutes as you patiently wait for the champions to leave the maze.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.





When Harry appears, he comes with Cedric Diggory’s dead body. A quiet hush falls over everyone in attendance, and you can hear several people crying.
Write 200 words as you stare at him in shock.





There was no time to come to terms with Cedric’s death when it’s revealed that Professor Moody isn’t the real Alastor Moody at all: he’s actually Barty Crouch, Jr., a Death Eater who was the one who entered Harry into the Triwizard Tournament!
Write for fifteen minutes during the chaos.





At the end of year feast, Dumbledore that Voldemort has returned and was responsible for Cedric’s death.
Participate in the Three Digit Challenge during Dumbledore’s speech and as Harry, who sits next to you, explains more details of what happened.





Summer vacation is here once again, but this time it comes with a heavy burden on your chest.
Write 500 words on the train home, and start preparing for your fifth year at Hogwarts!

This summer has been an interesting one for you; you’ve been living with a woman named Mrs. Figg, who lives in Harry’s town. You’ve spent some time with him this summer on orders from Dumbledore, though you don’t know why.
When you sense the Dementors on Privet Drive, write 500 words as you and Mrs. Figg go to investigate.
If you are in Gryffindor, the Dementors don’t scare you and you may skip this round for free.

You don’t see Harry at all after the incident until several witches and wizards come to pick you and Harry up to take you to 12 Grimmauld Place.
Write for thirty minutes during the long broomstick flight to London.





Once you reach 12 Grimmauld Place, you see Sirius for the first time in months, and he tells you and Harry about the Order of the Phoenix.
Write 500 words in ten minutes as you try to convince him, the Weasleys, and other members of the order to let you join.


If you fail: You don’t get to join the Order. Sorry about that!

If you succeed: You still don’t get to join the Order… but Sirius is impressed and amused. He gives you a Galleon.





As Harry goes to the Ministry for his trial, you help around the house doing several chores. If you complete all of the chores Mrs. Weasley has for you, Ron, and Hermione to do, she gives you a Galleon. If you are in Hufflepuff, you have already done so much to help Molly and may skip this round for free.


Clean out some of the upstairs bedrooms by writing 250 words.

Write for fifteen minutes as you make dinner and Mrs. Weasley gets some rest.

Write 500 words in ten minutes if you help get rid of the boggart upstairs.





September first arrives, and it’s time for you to go back to Hogwarts. Ron and Hermione are prefects and go to sit in their own carriage, so you share a compartment with Ginny, Neville, and Luna Lovegood.
Write for 45 minutes during the long ride to school.





At the start of term feast, you notice that Hagrid is missing from the staff table. You also learn that this year’s new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is Dolores Umbridge, who looks like a toad who was drowned in pink fabric. You soon learn in class that she is a horrible teacher.
She makes you write 3% of your word count when you speak out against her in class.





Umbridge is out of control, and her rule over the school is becoming more and more extreme. In secret, you and several others who disagree with her teaching methods meet in Hogsmeade to organize a group that will learn under Harry.
Write 500 words during the meeting at the Hog’s Head.





The new group, now called Dumbledore’s Army and forced to meet in secret due to the Educational Decree Number Twenty-four, needs a place to learn where it won’t be discovered by Umbridge or any of the students in her Inquisitorial Squad.
Write for twenty minutes as you search for a place to meet.
Dobby tells you about the Room of Requirement, and it is decided that you’ll meet there. If you are in Slytherin, you are also a member of the Inquisitorial Squad to try to sabotage Umbridge and may skip this round for free.





Hagrid has come back to Hogwarts, and you, Harry, Ron, and Hermione go to visit him.
Participate in a Fifty-Headed Hydra as he describes the giants to you.





Harry wakes you up in a panic and tells you that he had a nightmare about Mr. Weasley being attacked at the Ministry by a snake.
Write 600 words during the long night with the Weasleys comforting them as they discover that what Harry dreamed about was true.





It’s Christmas at 12 Grimmauld Place! Many members of the Order are there, and you spend your break from school getting to know some of the others better. If you complete all of the challenges, take a Galleon.


Nymphadora Tonks: You accidentally call her Nymphadora. Write 500 words as she explains to you that she hates being called by her first name.

Kingsley Shacklebolt: Write for twenty minutes as you listen to Kingsley’s stories about being an Auror.

Alastor Moody: You never really got to know the real Moody last year because of Barty Crouch, Jr. It turns out that he’s really as crazy as you thought he was. Write 300 words in five minutes as he demonstrates several curses on you, much to the enjoyment of your friends.

Arthur Weasley: After Arthur’s accident, you spend more time with him in order to lift his spirits. Write to the nearest thousand as you describe what you know about Muggle objects to him.





After the holidays, one of your Dumbledore’s Army meetings is interrupted when Umbridge and the Inquisitorial Squad find their way into a meeting after the organization is exposed by one of Cho Chang’s friends. Dumbledore takes responsibility for forming the organization despite having no part of it, and he escapes custody when several Aurors attempt to arrest him. Once he’s gone, Umbridge becomes the new Headmistress.
Write 500 words as her grip on the school becomes stricter than ever.





It’s time for you to have a career advice session with your head of house. Your O.W.L.s are fast approaching, and you need to decide what career you want to go into in order to narrow your studies for your last two years at school. However, you don’t know yet what you want to go into! They each have their own advice for you:


Gryffindors: McGonagall seems to think you have a knack for Defence Against the Dark Arts, though she admits that your education hasn’t been the best under Umbridge. Write for twenty minutes as she describes the work that Aurors do.

Hufflepuffs: Professor Sprout tells you that your marks in Potions are absolutely exceptional, and that you should consider becoming a doctor at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Write 400 words as you listen to her describe the different potions you would be able to make from the plants in the greenhouses.

Ravenclaws: Divination is your strong suit; at least,it is according to Professor Flitwick. Write for thirty minutes as you demonstrate your skill reading crystal balls for him.

Slytherins: Snape presents your marks to you and berates you for doing poorly in Charms and History of Magic, because he sees you as a great Head Warlock of the Wizengamot. Write 600 words as he gives you studying advice for your upcoming tests.





During one of Gryffindor’s Quidditch matches, Hagrid leads you, Harry, and Hermione into the Forbidden Forest, where he introduces you to his younger half-brother, Grawp. He seems very nice, but he doesn’t understand that it’s not socially acceptable to lift people off of the ground.
Write for fifteen minutes as your friends try to convince Grawp to let you down.





Exam time has fallen on Hogwarts, and it’s time for you to take your O.W.L.s.
In order to receive the O.W.L.s you need for your chosen career, you must write 1500 words.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.


If you complete this task in under an hour, you receive an O- Outstanding! You’ll be sure to get into all of your N.E.W.T.-level courses, and your parents send you a Galleon to congratulate you.

If you complete this task in under 90 minutes, you receive an E- Excellent! You might not be at the best level you could be, but you make it into all of your required courses.

If you complete this task in under two hours, you receive an A- Acceptable! You have a little trouble getting into your courses, but with a little help from your professors and a little more sweet talk, you’re just fine.

If you fail to complete this task in under two hours, you do not pass your O.W.L.s. However, after begging your Head of House for some kind of exception, you are allowed to move onto your N.E.W.T. courses… but not without writing another 500 words. Ouch.





Harry sends you a message that he believes Sirius is in serious trouble in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry, and he needs you to meet him at Umbridge’s office while he attempts to reach a member of the Order through the Floo Network in the Headmistress’s office. However, you and the rest of your friends are caught trying to give Harry enough time to contact someone.
Write 300 words as Umbridge tries to torture information out of you.

Hermione’s plan to lure Umbridge into the Forbidden Forest works. She is trapped there, and you, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, and Neville are able to escape the grounds.
Roll a die and multiply your roll by 150.
Write that many words as you fly to the Ministry.





It was a trap! Sirius is not in the Department of Mysteries at all, but this was a ploy to lure Harry to the Ministry, retrieve a necessary prophecy, and capture him.
Write for ten minutes during your first real duel with several masked Death Eaters.





You’ve fought well, but you and your friends are nearly defeated when several members of the Order arrive to help you fight the Death Eaters. With their help, you are able to successfully defeat most of the Death Eaters, but there is one casualty.
Write 400 words as you look back and see that Sirius has fallen through the Veil and has died.





Dumbledore appears, and so does Lord Voldemort. This is the first time you’ve ever seen him, and you’re terrified at the sight, even though you already knew that he was back.
Write for fifteen minutes as you watch the two most powerful wizards alive battle, simultaneously fearing for your life and in awe at the sight of such powerful magic.





The battle is over, but the war has only just begun.
Write 150 words on the train ride back to Hogwarts and think over the dangers that loom in the future ahead.

After such an eventful spring, it was nice to have some time to relax at the Burrow over the summer. But now, it’s time to go to Diagon Alley to buy your books for sixth year.
Write 600 words as you pick up all of your necessary supplies.

You go with your friends to visit Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, where Fred and George challenge you to a little game: can you guess which one of them is Fred?
Write 750 words in ten minutes in order to make your guess.


If you succeed: You guess correctly (though, to be fair, you had a 50% chance of guessing correctly), and they give you a Galleon.

If you fail: They tell you won, and that your prize is a piece of candy. You eat it without thinking about the consequence. It turns out that they’ve fed you a Fainting Fancy! Write 200 words after you wake up on the shop floor.





You spot Draco Malfoy acting suspiciously, and you, Harry, Ron, and Hermione follow him under the Invisibility Cloak as he goes to Borgin and Burkes.
Participate in the Three Digit Challenge as you listen to him talk to the owner about a certain item he needs to repair.
If you are in Slytherin, Draco trusts you and lets you come with him into the shop, and you hear the information in person. You may skip this round for free.





Though you were looking forward to spending time on the train with your friends, all of them are either in the Prefect carriage or invited to ride in a compartment with one of the new teachers, Horace Slughorn.
Write for thirty minutes as you read in your empty compartment.





At the Start-of-Term Feast, Dumbledore announces that Professor Slughorn will take over as the Potions teacher because Snape is now teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Write 500 words as you worry about your marks in his class.





During your first Potions class, Slughorn hosts a competition to see who can brew the best Draught of Living Death, and whoever does will receive a small vial of Liquid Luck, or Felix Felicis.
Roll a die, multiply your roll by 200, and write that many words as you struggle to make the potion.





Harry is now Quidditch Captain of the Gryffindor team, and you go with Hermione to watch as many people try out for the team.
Write 400 words as you cheer Ron on as he tries out to become Keeper.

The first Hogsmeade visit of the year arrives, and on your way out of The Three Broomsticks, you watch in horror as seventh-year Katie Bell is cursed by an opal necklace.
Write 3% of your word count as you help her to the hospital wing and explain to McGonagall what happened.





The morning of the first Quidditch match of the year, Harry pretends to slip Felix Felicis into Ron’s drink at breakfast. This leads to an incredible win over Slytherin, but ruins Ron’s and Hermione’s friendship as Ron begins to date Lavender Brown to get back at Hermione for not believing in his Quidditch abilities.
Write 600 words as the biggest feud between your two friends begins.





Professor Slughorn is hosting a Christmas party tonight, and though you aren’t a member of the infamous Slug Club, a fifth year you previously didn’t know existed asks you to go with them. You only agree so you can spend time with Harry and Hermione, because it turns out your date is extremely overbearing and clingy.
Write for fifteen minutes as you hide with Hermione from your horrible dates.





Christmas arrives, and this year you spend the holiday with your parents, something you haven’t done since beginning your time at Hogwarts.
Write to the nearest thousand as you spend a quiet Christmas Day with your family.
They give you a Galleon along with the rest of your Christmas presents to thank you for spending time with them.





During a homework help session with Professor Slughorn as he helps you learn how to perfect that Draught of Living Death, Harry brings Ron down and explains that he had accidentally consumed a love potion and needed an antidote. Slughorn pours all four of you some Mulled Mead and mixes the antidote into Ron’s glass. It cures him of his infatuation, but the mead is poisoned!
Harry manages to save him with a Bezoar, and you write 400 words as you spend time with Ron as he recovers in the hospital wing.





It’s time to take your Apparition test, and you get so nervous that you end up Splinching off your left foot.
Madam Pomfrey is able to reattach it easily, but makes you write for twenty minutes as you recover.
If you are in Ravenclaw, Apparating comes easily to you and you may skip this round for free.





Harry takes some of his Felix Felicis in order to obtain a necessary memory from Professor Slughorn, and feels that he needs to go down to Hagrid’s hut to attend Aragog’s funeral.
Ron and Hermione are skeptical, but you tag along and participate in a Fifty Headed Hydra to pay your respects to the giant spider that nearly killed you.





Slughorn came with you to Aragog’s burial, and afterwards, he and Hagrid get drunk in Hagrid’s hut and reminisce, as older men often do. Slughorn hasn’t ever really noticed you, but in his drunken state he invites you to join the Slug Club to make up for the shame he feels in giving Harry the memory he needs.
Write 600 words as Harry leaves suddenly to get the memory to Dumbledore, and you’re left to get a very drunk Slughorn back to his chambers.
If you are in Hufflepuff, Slughorn cooperates with you as you help him back to the dungeons and you may skip this round for free.





Now that Harry has gotten the memory from Slughorn, it appears that his lessons with Dumbledore are now resulting in a trip outside of the school. Before he leaves, he gives the remaining Felix Felicis to you to give to the others because he thinks that Malfoy’s succeeded in whatever he’s been trying to do.
Write for fifteen minutes as you mentally prepare yourself for the possibility of a battle.





After Harry leaves and you’ve taken the Felix Felicis, you go to guard the Room of Requirement, where Harry thinks Draco has been repairing the object he purchased from Borgin and Burkes. When the room opens, the corridor is immediately filled with Peruvian Instant Darkness powder, and when the darkness clears, you’re attacked by a Death Eater who was let in by Malfoy.
Write for forty-five minutes as you begin to battle Death Eaters with all the courage you can muster.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.





The battle leads you to the courtyard, and fear grows inside of you when you see the Dark Mark appear over the Astronomy Tower. Your momentary distraction allows the masked Death Eater you’re dueling to strike you with a Full-Body Bind.
Write 750 words before Neville Longbottom sees you and unbinds you.





As Neville helps you to your feet, you see a robed body fall from the top of the Astronomy tower. You run forward and recognize that it is Dumbledore just as his corpse hits the ground.
You’re stunned, and you write 100 words as you raise your wand in respect for your fallen Headmaster.





Dumbledore’s funeral emotionally impacts you more than you could have imagined.
Write for fifteen minutes as you listen to the eulogies and watch the white tomb be lowered into the ground.





After the funeral, Harry tells you, Ron, and Hermione about the Horcruxes, how the locket he and Dumbledore went to fetch the night Dumbledore died was a fake, and that he needs to track down all of them and destroy them because they contain a part of the Dark Lord’s soul. He doesn’t want you to, but you assure him that you’ll help him on his hunt for the Horcruxes.
Write 200 words as the reality that you won’t be returning to Hogwarts sinks in, and prepare for the task ahead.

It’s been a long, anxiety-ridden summer for you. Now that war is officially upon the Wizarding World, you have been preparing as much as you can for the hunt for Horcruxes that’s waiting for you. But tonight, it’s time to bring Harry to the Burrow.

Write 700 words as you take Polyjuice Potion and disguise yourself as Harry.

You mount a Thestral, along with Charlie Weasley. As you take off to head towards a safe house, however, you’re immediately ambushed by Death Eaters!
Write for thirty minutes as you ward off your attackers.
If you are in Gryffindor, you are a valiant fighter and may skip this round for free.





After mourning Mad-Eye Moody’s death during the flight to the Burrow and celebrating Harry’s seventeenth birthday, Fleur and Bill’s wedding arrives. During the festivities, however, Kingsley Shacklebolt’s Patronus arrives and warns you that the Ministry has fallen. It’s time for you to leave the safety of the Burrow.
Write 500 words as you flee the wedding with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.





You take refuge in 12 Grimmauld Place, which is under protection of the Fidelius Charm. There, Kreacher tells you about how the owner of the locket was Regulus Black, and he forces Mundungus Fletcher to tell you where the original locket is. The answer? Around Dolores Umbridge’s neck at the Ministry.
Write for twenty minutes as you plan how you will infiltrate the Ministry.
If you are in Slytherin, you know Umbridge better than the others and know the perfect way to get the locket. You may skip this round for free.





You and your friends spend a month spying on the Ministry before you use Polyjuice Potion to disguise yourselves as employees and sneak in so you can find the locket.
Write for forty-five minutes as you locate the Horcrux, steal it from Umbridge, and run from Ministry officials who are trying to capture you.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.





Yaxley grabbed a hold of Hermione’s arm when you Apparated to 12 Grimmauld Place, revealing the house to the Death Eaters. You instead Apparate to a thickly wooded forest, but you have no time to rest because Ron is splinched!
Write 600 words as you heal his arm and set up camp.





All efforts to destroy the Horcrux are hopeless, but Hermione realizes that you can use the sword of Gryffindor to destroy the Horcruxes because it is infused with basilisk venom from the time Harry stabbed the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets. However, Ron becomes discouraged, thinking that your quest is hopeless, and he suspects that Harry and Hermione have feelings for each other.
He leaves angrily, and you participate in the Three Digit Challenge as you mourn his absence.





Harry wants to visit Godric’s Hollow to visit his parents’ graves as well as to look for the sword of Gryffindor. When you are approached by Bathilda Bagshot, you go with her to her home without asking any questions. The house is very decrepit, though, and you don’t hear Bathilda speak at all. It is revealed that she is actually Nagini, planted in Godric’s Hollow in order to attack Harry.
Write 500 words as you fight off Nagini.





Your situation reaches a new low when Harry breaks his wand and you have no idea where to start in order to look for the other Horcruxes. During Harry’s watch in the middle of the night, you and Hermione are woken up by the sounds of Ron’s return. He holds the broken locket in one hand and the sword of Gryffindor in the other. You are quick to forgive him, but Hermione is still angry that he left.
Write for thirty minutes as they argue, a sound you never thought you would miss.





Hermione wants to go visit Xenophilius Lovegood and learn about the symbol that she’s seen many times since you began your journey. He tells you about the Deathly Hallows, but he doesn’t leave without revealing that Luna has been captured by Death Eaters and summoning them to capture Harry as well.
Write 3% of your word count as you escape as the Lovegood’s house crumbles.
If you are in Ravenclaw, you’ve visited Luna’s home before and know the quickest way out. You may skip this round for free.





Ron manages to tune into Potterwatch, a radio station that reports news as it actually happens and supports Harry in his efforts to defeat You-Know-Who. After listening, Harry accidentally says the name Voldemort, breaking a Taboo placed on his name and causing Snatchers to find you.
Write 1000 words in twenty minutes.


If you succeed: You don’t outrun the Snatchers, but you manage to pickpocket them and find 2 Galleons.

If you fail: You’re captured by the Snatchers and taken to Malfoy Manor.





In the cellar of the Manor, you find Ollivander, Griphook, and Luna, as well as Dobby, who helps you to escape. He drops a chandelier onto Bellatrix Lestrange and Apparates all of you away from the Manor, but not before Bellatrix throws a knife that fatally stabs him in the stomach. He dies as you appear near Shell Cottage.
Write for fifteen minutes as you mourn Dobby, a free elf.
If you are in Hufflepuff, you help Harry dig the grave for Dobby and may skip this round for free.





The next step in your hunt for Horcruxes is to break into Bellatrix Lestrange’s vault at Gringotts and look for another Horcrux: Helga Hufflepuff’s cup. You and the group talk to Griphook the goblin and ask him for help in breaking into the bank, and he accepts, but only if you give him the sword of Gryffindor in return.
Roll a die, multiply your roll by 200, and write that many words as you plan the break in.





With Hermione disguised as Bellatrix Lestrange, you successfully make it past the front desk, the depths of the bank, and into the vault. As you begin to search for the cup, the gold and treasures inside begin to multiply rapidly.
In order to escape, you must write 3000 words.
However, for each Galleon that you have, you will decrease this amount by 100 words. (For example, if you have 10 Galleons, you will only write 2000 words. 10x100=1000, 3000-1000=2000.) However, in doing so, you lose all of your Galleons. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.





Many guards attempt to capture you on your way out of the vault, but you escape on the back of a dragon being kept captive in the bank.
Participate in a Fifty Headed Hydra as you fly on its back to the edge of a lake.
If you successfully write 500 words in five minutes, you spot a Galleon on the ground.





There are three Horcruxes destroyed (the diary, the ring, and the locket), and you have a fourth, and now there are only two left. Harry believes that one is hidden at Hogwarts, and you decide to Apparate to Hogsmeade and figure out a way to get inside. As soon as you arrive, you’re cornered by Death Eaters. However, an old man bearing a striking resemblance to Albus Dumbledore comes to your aid. He reveals himself to be Aberforth, Albus’s younger brother.
Write for thirty minutes as you listen to him talk about Albus’s past.





In order to get into the castle, Aberforth opens a passageway, and Neville greets you. Before you leave, Aberforth gives you a Galleon to help you during the inevitable battle. Neville leads you through a passageway that leads to the Room of Requirement, which is now a shelter for those abused the most by Snape’s regime as Headmaster.
Harry tells them about the possibility of a Horcrux at Hogwarts, and you write 600 words as you brainstorm what the relic of Ravenclaw could be.





Voldemort has discovered that his Horcruxes are being destroyed, and he has assembled an army of supporters to attack Hogwarts.
He announces that he will attack at midnight, giving you time to write for an hour in order to prepare for the battle.





You believe that the Horcrux, the lost diadem of Ravenclaw, could be in the Room of Requirement, and you and the trio enter the room. You’re intercepted by Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, who begin to duel with you when Crabbe misfires the Fiendfyre spell and sets the room ablaze.
The Horcrux is destroyed by the magical fire, but you write 500 words as you barely make it out of the room alive.





The last Horcrux to be destroyed is Voldemort’s snake, Nagini. You, Harry, Ron, and Hermione go down to the Shrieking Shack, where Voldemort is waiting out the battle. There, you overhear his conversation with Snape about the Elder Wand, and he sets his snake on Snape in order to become the master of the wand.
Once Voldemort is gone, you run out to Snape and write 400 words as you witness his death.





Harry has disappeared, and you’re given an hour to take care of the casualties of the battle. Among them are some of your dearest friends: Fred, Lupin and Tonks, Lavender Brown, and Colin Creevey.
Write for twenty minutes as you spend a quiet moment with those that remain mourning the dead.





The next time you see Harry is when Voldemort arrives, forcing Hagrid to carry his dead body in his arms. Grief overwhelms you, but you’re distracted by Neville, who stands up to Voldemort’s taunting and slays Nagini. Reinforcements arrive, and the battle commences more intensely than ever.
Write 1500 words during this last stretch of the battle.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to skip this round even if you have enough Galleons to do so.





Harry suddenly pulls off the Invisibility Cloak, revealing that he’s actually alive. He faces down Voldemort in the Great Hall and reveals that instead of Snape being master of the Elder Wand by killing Dumbledore, it was actually Draco, who disarmed him. When Harry took Draco’s wand from him at Malfoy Manor, he became the true master of the Elder Wand. Voldemort refuses to believe him and fires the Killing Curse, which rebounds and hits him instead. He falls to the floor, dead at last.
There’s one moment of stillness, and then you write 250 words in celebration of the end of the war.





Families are reunited, friends comfort each other, and Harry finds you, along with Ron and Hermione, and explains everything that happened after he disappeared, from seeing Snape’s memories to his time in limbo at King’s Cross. He repairs his own wand before destroying the Elder Wand, ridding it of its powers.
You and your friends sit together quietly, and you write for five minutes as you realize that all is well.
