I'm an artist and I'm trying to write short backstories for my characters and flesh out their personalities, but I have no idea where to start. I have a few ideas for two of my favorite characters but I don't even know where to look for new ones or how to continue. I just kinda get stuck. Any advice at all is appreciated! characters: x Fridayx TBN

(Just so you know, the yellow tag in your title is meant to be used as a warning for strong language c;)
Well let's see, there's many things you could do. There are character sheets you can fill out online, some even have up to 60 questions to fill out about your character. It also helps to answer those questions in first person from their perspective, to really get into their minds. One of my favorite things to do is write the same scene twice, one from the perspective of each character. The challenge is trying to make them totally different! The main thing I wold say, however, is time. If you're still using them three years from now, you will still be learning new things. They will tell you who they are if you make the effort to get to know them.

Kleo has some really good ideas there! I know filling out character sheets is a great start, but can also leave some blanks if you aren't sure what you want. Another tip is to look at the character, and their body language or color scheme. You drew them a specific way because you likes that pose/color pattern. You could use their physical appearances to help describe their personality.
(Friday so so adorable by the way!) I'm not exactly sure what kind of backstory you would want. It would depend on what role you plan for them to take.
